Email / spamming
Every main steet of Asmara has one or more
internet cafe's, and all high end hotels in Asmara, Massawa and Keren provide
internet facilities.
Unfortunately, the Internet service in Eritrea is very
slow, and spam is another
reason for email congestion. Therefore, if you start your email message to a
company or organisation in Eritrea with:
Dear friend,
Dear Sir/Madam,
To whom it may concern,
To the sales manager,
Don't expect any answer. Your first line is disrespectful and a good reason
to press [Delete] for the receiving partner, if your mail will pass his/her
spam filter anyway.
If you have an interesting product and some respect for your potential
customers, you will first check who is your relevant contact in Eritrea, and address him/her in
person. And if you are smart, you will first call your contact to confirm
he or she is interested and able to communicate with you in English.
At the bottom of this page (and any other page
on this web) you will find the link [contact us] and choosing the link, you
will find my name (which is NOT feedback ;-), and you are contacting the
webmaster and not the Eritrean authorities.
Many Eritrean tourism service providers and
small business have a page on Facebook, where you can leave a message, and get
a glimpse of your potential contact.
